A bad art night at the Mapleton Public House is a full-contact table competition where the medium is whatever happens to be within reach: the backs of beer coasters, torn bottle labels, napkins, docket paper, and the occasional suspiciously damp cardboard carton. There are no rules — except that cheating is absolutely encouraged, and any borrowed pen is now communal property. Teams hunch over their scraps like Renaissance masters with a schooner in hand, producing self-portraits, revenge portraits of someone who still owes them fifty bucks, and highly inaccurate horses. Accusations fly early. Someone is clearly tracing.…
